Greetings Powerful One,
My name is Ber-Henda Williams and I am the first of my name! Yes this is a reference to Game of Thrones. I am Black Woman, Blerd, Lover of Christ and believer in the unparalleled power of girlhood. The Power of Girlhood magazine is a labor of love and is fused with collective wisdom and expression from girls across the metro area. They come from different backgrounds, socio-economic backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences. This publication is a part of The In(her) Voice Project with the goal to aggregate media that is both for and produced by girls and young women to speak to what matters most to them and time in our history that is requiring us to be honest, discerning, communal and grounded.
The Power of Girlhood is turning 11 years old this year and like any other tween, we are testing limits and boundaries and we hope that you will too. We have heard time and again that the future is female and while that is true, it is also intersectional and fluid. As you move through pages, I invite you to open your heart and mind to explore the parts of your inner girl and regardless of your gender, there is a glorious feminine spirit that informs your intuition, creativity, and empathy. You will meet former members of our program, collaborators and girls at large. However, as you read these lines we hope that you feel a deep sense of pride and optimism about the future that will be in the hands of those who authored these articles. We have so many people for this project.

I feel the deepest sense of gratitude and joy not just because I am the founder but because you and the reader are the evidence of what happens when we walk by faith and head the calling of the Holy Spirit. The publication is a miracle. While this was forged in the wake of the pandemic but this vision was about four years in the making. Please share our words with others and the community that made this possible. I don't just believe in The Power of Girlhood I KNOW The Power of Girlhood. Get to know us!
