Empowering the Future: The Tweens Leadership Institute Recap

From August 14th to 18th, 2023, Unity of Farmington Hills, MI, came alive with youthful energy and the promise of leadership during the In(Her) Voice Project's presents The Power of Girlhood's Tweens Leadership Institute.

Parents and guardians entrusted us with their daughters' growth, and the results were nothing short of remarkable. Jasmine Akujobi, the proud parent of Laila shared, "I was very pleased with the experience and impact it made for Laila. She was exposed to an array of topics and experiences in such a short amount of time. She still refers to the affirmative notes taken during camp and chants them in the mornings."

It's moments like these that remind us why we do what we do. The Tweens Leadership Institute is more than a camp; it's a transformative journey. A. Jordan, who saw the immense value in this experience for her daughter Malia said, "Malia doesn't interact with many girls her age, so I was excited for her to be exposed to girls her age and positive leaders."

The Institute was a holistic experience, focusing on leadership development, self-confidence, and the power of self-expression. Our girls engaged in workshops, discussions, and activities that inspired them to become confident, informed leaders in their communities. They explored essential topics such as self-identity, self-worth, and community involvement.

Through mentorship, teamwork, and open dialogue, the girls discovered their unique voices, and their enthusiasm was palpable. The bonds formed during this week will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact.

We couldn't have done it without our incredible team of mentors and leaders, who poured their hearts and wisdom into shaping these young minds.

As we look back on the Tweens Leadership Institute, we see not just the seeds of leadership planted but the roots beginning to take hold. We're excited to watch these girls grow into strong, confident leaders who will shape a brighter future for us all.
